Sounds like a lot of my kind of fun too!

Years ago, due to my wife's declining health, we stopped taking vacations. Instead, we found fun and recreation by taking long day drives through east and central Texas. We made the most of nice dinners out, an occasional movie, and a visit to the local bookstore. Our goal was to have as much fun as her health would allow daily.
